The 4th World Congress of the World Association of Cultural Psychiatry (WACP) was held in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, from 29 October to 2 November 2015. Under the theme “Global Challenges & Cultural Psychiatry: Natural Disasters, Conflict, Insecurity, Migration and Spirituality,” the Congress brought together cultural psychiatry professionals and scholars from around the world to exchange knowledge and perspectives on some of the most pressing global challenges affecting mental health. The scientific programme highlighted the profound cultural dimensions of displacement, conflict, disasters, migration, and spirituality, while promoting international collaboration and culturally responsive approaches to mental healthcare.
The Congress also provided an important platform for international dialogue on the global migration crisis and the mental health consequences of forced displacement and violence, reflecting WACP’s continuing commitment to advancing culturally informed psychiatric research, education, and compassionate care worldwide.
