On November 10, 2020, a webinar continued the dialogue between Prof. Vikram Patel and Prof. Laurence Kirmayer on bridging the gap in psychiatric care in non-Western countries, building on their 2018 WACP conference exchange in New York. Moderated by Dr. Mihri Heval Özgen and Dr. Hans Rohlof, the discussion examined tensions in Global Mental Health, including the transportability of Western models, research limitations, mobilizing local systems, framing inequalities, and devising feasible interventions in low-resource settings—themes also explored in the Dutch/Flemish Handbook of Cultural Psychiatry and Psychotherapy.
